12 Days Uganda Jungle Safari

Tour Overview

On this safari, you will enjoy visits to different destinations including; Murchison falls national park, Bwindi impenetrable national park, Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, as well as Lake Mburo National park. You will have a chance to enjoy many wildlife species, track mountain gorillas, as well as engage in many boat cruises to view more wildlife species like the birds.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel To Murchison falls

Early departure from Kampala and head for your Uganda game viewing safari at Murchison Falls. Drinking water is provided as a complementary while onboard. We stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary reserve for Rhino tracking, lunch at the historical Masindi hotel. How about a visit to the top of the falls before checking in at our lodge! At the falls you will see the fabulous falls with water flowing down through the 7 meter gorge and you will witness the ground shaking due to the high pressure from the flowing water down the 43 meters. We will later check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Murchison falls Uganda safari

Morning cup of tea before heading for a game safari.  This game drive will lead you to the best game viewing spots at Murchison Falls Park, make sure you take quality pictures of savanna animals such as lions, giraffe grazing, and lion cubs with their mother, Giraffes grazing and Elephants moving across the savannah. Transfer to your accommodation relax then lunch.
This afternoon is dedicated for the boat cruise in Murchison falls park and it is a must do for every visitor. The cruise will move towards the upper side of Murchison Falls seeing a variety of crocodiles floating on water, elephants, hippos, antelopes, buffaloes, butterflies, many birds’ species like the African Fish Eagle, stork family and many more. The boat moves swiftly upstream the Nile River, it is advised to carry drinking water while on the boat ride. You will take the downstream journey with another view of the falls from your boat cruise.  The journey down the river slowly begins and more chances of seeing lots of animals before you return to your lodging for dinner and evening at rest.

Day 3: Uganda safari to the Rainforest of Kibale

This morning starts with a leisurely cup of coffee at your lodge. We set off for our scenic journey driving through the beauty of Uganda’s traditional homesteads and plantations. Stop along the way for lunch and continue with our scenic journey to Fort portal reaching early evening.  Rest at your lodging,

Dinner and overnight at Kyaninga lodge/ Primate Lodge, Mountains of the Moon/ Chimp Nest Lodge, Bush Lodge/ Chimpanzee Guest House, Ruwenzori view Guest house

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking Kibale

A lovely breakfast at your lodging is a must before you set off for chimpanzee tracking. You will then assemble for orientation before you hike into the Rain forest. With the guidance from the ranger guide you will have the opportunity to see other primates staying in this forest, birds of different types since Kibale is bird watching destination. Kibale forest is highly recommended for primate safaris in Uganda and for sure you will witness this after the chimp trek. Lunch at our lodge and we set off for Queen Elizabeth Park Mweya Peninsula where we arrive in the evening for check in.

Day 5: Uganda safari at Queen Elizabeth Park

Wake up early and then game drive to see the early risers.  Afterwards you return to your lodge for late breakfast, this morning you will visit the crater lakes region with astonishing sight from a distance. Lunch at your lodging and carry out the Kazinga Channel boat cruise with all of its wildlife and plenty of birds to see along the channel.  How about taking a late evening game drive, dinner and rest at your lodging.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth primate safari

This day 6 of your 12 day Uganda Primate and Wildlife safari will be dedicated to explore the wonders of Queen Elizabeth Park – Chimpanzee trekking – Maramagambo forest. Another great breakfast and for those who will choose to stay at Luxury Mweya safari Lodge, we should not miss seeing the rising sun  as you  overlook the Kazinga channel  at  Queen Elizabeth Park. So amazing!  This morning it’s off for chimpanzee trekking at Kyambura Gorge. The chimpanzees in Kyambura are wonderful and easy to see, since you will be escorted by a Ranger Guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger who will lead you to the place where you will see the chimps.  It is not easy to see the chimps on your own, so you will require an experienced and skilled ranger to guide you to the chimpanzees.

After the chimp trek we set off for another adventure safari to Maramagambo Forest with our packed lunch. Within the forest there are large pythons resting inside the bat cave.  The Bat cave with its thousands of bats is another adventure on its own in this forest, and tourist have enjoyed a visit to this cave. Honestly you will find the cave visit awesome. Return to your lodging for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight.

Day 7 –Mountain gorilla safari at Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla Park

Before we say bye to Queen Elizabeth, we shall have our leisurely breakfast. And slowly drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable forest passing via   the great and famous Ishasha sector, where we shall see some tree climbing lions in this southern part of Queen Elizabeth Park. We reach our lodging in Bwindi in time for lunch and afternoon at leisure. If you have the afternoon free you may opt for guided walk around your lodge or to the nearby forest.

Day 8 – Gorilla tracking Bwindi

Early morning breakfast before you assemble for briefing and for your awesome thrilling gorilla tracking experience at Bwindi Forest. This gorilla tracking day may take a few hours or 8 hours while looking for the gorillas.  The gorillas move freely to different locations on a daily basis so they can never be in one place for more than two or 3 days. Different tourists encounter different experiences with the gorillas. What you have to know is that the gorilla trek is truly rewarding and worth taking. You will see the gorillas play around and some may even come near you, please keep a distance of 5 meters and you will not be allowed to feed them.  In this forest of Bwindi you may see other wildlife and birds of different types apart from the mountain gorillas.
After the gorilla trek you will walk back to your lodging for relaxation or take a guided community walk to the communities of the Batwa. The Batwa culture trail will introduce you to the Insights of the communities and their daily life.

Day 9: Uganda safari at Lake Mburo

Gorilla safari ends this day with transfers to Lake Mburo for Wildlife and game viewing. A cup of coffee in the jungle forest of Bwindi and set off for your Lake Mburo National park safari. The thrilling destination for you to rest after the gorilla safari journey is Lake Mburo Park. Accommodation at Lake Mburo ranges from Budget, camping to Super Luxury the choice is yours.  We reach the park in time for lunch. We carry out a boat cruise on Lake Mburo in the afternoon. On the cruise expect to see birds, zebras, antelopes, crocodiles, hippos and many more. The evening is reserved for rest.

Day 10: Lake Mburo safari

Morning cup of African tea will work out for you before you set off for your game viewing safari in the morning. It is from this game drive that you will visit Lake Mburo’s 5 lakes while driving through the dotted savannah acacia trees with lots of birds and animals to spot. After the game drive you will check out of Lake Mburo Park for your journey to Kampala.   Lunch in Masaka town and another stop at equator for craft shopping, photograph taking then proceed to see the Mpabwirwe Buganda Royal drum makers.

Day 11: Adventure rafting safari

Early departure from Kampala for your rafting safari at Jinja. The drive will take you through the great Mabira forest and tea plantations. On this day of your safari, you will surely enjoy the most thrilling white water rafting safari in Uganda.  Before you start rafting, you will be briefed and given the necessary rafting equipment’s like helmets and life jackets. Here rafting is carried out on 18 kilometer stretch of the Nile River. At the start the rapids are not that high they are on grade 1 and 2, here you will also be given sense of confidence. As the river spreads through fabulous scenery, the rafters are guided into the mighty challenges of the top “grade 5” rapids on the Nile. After this Amazing adventure you will be transferred to Kampala.

Day 12: Departure

A relaxed cup of tea at your hotel in Kampala and city tour around the sights and sounds of Kampala. The city tour will take you to Kampala’s historical sites like Namirembe Cathedrals, St Balikudembe Market known as Owiino market, Uganda Museum, Uganda Martyrs Shrine, Lunch and a visit to the craft shops for  shopping and off  to Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight back home.
