7 Days Rwanda- Uganda Gorilla Safari

This 7 days gorilla trekking tour starts and ends in Kigali. This tour can as well end in Kampala with double gorilla tracking one in Rwanda and the other trek in Uganda. You will be able to do gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, as well as game drives.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes

After breakfast your tour guide will transfer you to Ruhengeri. After checking-in at the lodge, you may opt for visit to the Ib’iwachu cultural village.

Overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Hotel La Palme / Hotel Muhabura

Day 2: Golden Monkeys trekking in Volcanoes national park

Assemble at Kinigi park headquarters for briefing from the park ranger. Along with other trackers, go for golden monkeys tracking. You may opt to do Dian Fossey hike. On return you may cross over to Bwindi in Uganda for your first gorilla trek the following day. Or you may do your first gorilla trek in Volcanoes national park. All this depends on the cost and availability of gorilla permits at the time of your safari booking. In Bwindi you may stay an overnight in Chameleon Hill Lodge / Gorilla Safari Lodge / Gorilla Mist Camp / Bakiga Lodge

Day 3: 1st Gorilla trekking in either Volcanoes or Bwindi

After breakfast, your tour guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing by the park warden. At 8:30 am local time, the gorilla trek begins. It normally takes between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas in the jungle the previous night.

Day 4: 2nd Gorilla tracking in Uganda

This day do your second gorilla trek. This enhances your chances of interacting with gorillas in case the previous trek did not yield better results. On return from the gorilla trek, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 5: Game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park

Enjoy a morning game drive as you encounter 4 of the Big five including lions, leopard, elephants and buffaloes; others include waterbucks, Uganda kobs, sitatunga, etc. In the afternoon go for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel – this is one the best highlights Queen Elizabeth has to offer.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest national park – chimps tracking

After an early morning breakfast transfer to Kibale Forest national park for an afternoon chimpanzee tracking.

Overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge / Ndali Lodge / Crater Safari Lodge

Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali or Entebbe airport

After breakfast, you will be driven back to the airport to catch your flight.
