8 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Lake Mburo National park

Early in the morning after breakfast, the guide will pick you will start your journey to Lake Mburo National Park, on the way, you will check in at the lodge; and after have a game drive in the park were you will get chance to view the animals including ; the zebras, kobs, antelopes and many more. Have lunch at the lodge as you prepare for an afternoon boat cruise. Return to the lodge for an overnight.

Day Two: Travel to Bwindi

You leave Lake Mburo this morning with an early breakfast – check-out from your accommodation and we are off for the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable forest a home to the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. The fast stop will be in Mbarara town for lunch and proceed to Kabale reaching the park in time for dinner and overnight at the sights and sounds of Africa Rain forest. Depending on the choice of accommodations you will choose.

Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp, Luxury Gorilla Resort, Gorilla safari lodge, Buhoma community Bandas, Trekkers Tavern, Bwindi view Bandas, Nshongi Gorilla Resort, and Wagtail safari camp.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking safari Uganda

A well-deserved and hearty   breakfast at your lodge in Bwindi then we go for the orientation at the park headquarters.  From here you will start your hike with the ranger guides taking through the jungle forest to look for the gorillas. The gorilla trek (track) can last for a whole day or a few hours.  You will need to carry packed lunch and drinking water…at times, depending on terrain porters are available to carry you at an extra cost. Your group guide will know which direction to take to track the mountain gorillas. You will not be close to the gorillas keep a distance as you watch them carry out their daily routine like feeding young ones, moving here and there. Get out your cameras and make sure you take quality pictures with clear views.  Surely this is one of the most fascinating day and once in a life time safari experience. After the gorilla trek we are off to our lodge for dinner and overnight with all the memories of the day.

Day four: Bwindi / Queen Elizabeth safari

This morning will mark your last day in the African Rain forest of Bwindi. We start the morning with a relaxed cup of African tea before we check out of our accommodation. We are off for Queen Elizabeth National park driving through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth famous for the tree climbing lions in Uganda.  Check-in at our accommodation, it is lunch time and a leisurely afternoon.  In some cases a swimming pool is available, excellent view of Queen Elizabeth Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to a number of Africa Wildlife including  elephants, lions, antelopes, leopards, buffaloes, hyenas, monkeys, warthog, plants and trees.   You will simply be mesmerized.  Queen Elizabeth Park is the best destination for wildlife viewing in Uganda and you will see lots and lots of animals that call this park their motherland.  The park is generally a reflection of scenic wonders such as wildlife abundance, birds of different types including the migrants, crater lakes, Katwe salt lake, also surrounded by the tallest mountain range in Uganda – mountain Rwenzori referred to as the mountains of the moon. We then take off for the evening game drive, please let your cameras set for Wildlife photography. Your safari guide will make sure that you don’t miss out seeing the residents of the park right from animals to tree and plants. You deserve a quiet evening at your accommodation surrounded by wildlife.

Day five: Exploring Queen Elizabeth Wildlife

Early breakfast at your accommodation and you are set for a 3 hour game drive.  You will not forget this morning adventure it is referred to as a dawn game drive.  Expect to see, buffaloes, lions, Monkeys, elephants, birds, and the scenery with views of the fantastic Ruwenzori Mountain Ranges.
As the game drive comes to an end, we return to our lodge for lunch. How about resting after lunch! Then head for a pleasant launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel the highlight of your safari at Queen Elizabeth National park.  Kazinga Channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward, with more hippos, birds, and elephants coming on water, buffaloes and many more.  Welcome to Uganda the Pearl of Africa…Wildlife safari at Queen Elizabeth Park.
Relax in the evening, dinner and sleep.  As you take your dinner try to look around you may see some animals coming around to have dinner with you. Enjoy your night here.

Day Six:  Travel to Kibale Rain Forest

Breakfast at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth and check-out saying good bye to the staff at the lodge. We start our journey to Kibale chimpanzee forest famous for its chimpanzees and the Bigodi swamp.  We shall check in at the lodge and it’s now coming to darkness get ready for a night game walk in Kibale. This will be a walk of your life time through the jungle where you will see animals including monkeys in their night life totally different from day life.  Expect to spot lots of night birds.  This is rather a unique walk if you have never participated in such then you should not miss out this chance. The walk will offer you unique night smells, sights and sounds of the Africa rainforest. You will return to your accommodation with all the memories then dinner and a good night sleep.

Day Seven:  Chimpanzee tracking day at Kibale forest park

Early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing, here we are given a ranger guide to take us through the forest where the chimps are tracked.  Not only will you see the chimpanzees in their natural setting, but also other residents of the park including  mammals and birds of different types besides the fauna, flora and multitude of butterflies.  You will come into close range of the chimpanzees. This walk is very popular and everyone would wish to participate in it.  In Kibale forest, there are many butterflies to see as you head for the Chimpanzee walk, besides the elusive shoebill stork and the situnga antelope that reside in this park. After the chimpanzee trek we head back to our lodging facility for dinner and overnight.

Day Eight: Departure

A relaxed Breakfast to mark our last day of our Uganda safari, check out of our lodge and drive back to Kampala with lunch in Mubende town, arriving Kampala in the evening.
