Mgahinga national park is one of the four lucky homes of mountain gorillas in Africa and the world as a whole. The park offers the best gorilla trekking experiences in Africa, and this trip is nothing short of a singular trip.

You will be picked up very early in the morning by your tour guide who will take you to Mgahinga National Park and the park staff will guide you on how to undertake this tour.

The trip begins in Kampala, where you will be picked up from your hotel. Our knowledgeable driver-guide will accompany you throughout the journey as you travel to Mgahinga national park. The 9 hours journey is filled with spectacular views of the landscape, the beautiful people and the exciting stopovers. First stop at the Uganda equator where you will have the opportunity to see and buy various arts and crafts made by the local people of Uganda. You will also take as many pictures as you want. Lunch will be in Mbarara town and then proceed to Mgahinga national park, enjoying the beautiful scenery. Arrival at Mutanda Lake Resort which is a mid-range lodge in Kisoro in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Today you will trek the gorillas. Wake up to the sweet sounds of the birds in the neighboring jungle, have breakfast in the fresh morning breeze and head to the park station for gorilla trekking briefing. Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga national park involves a simple hike to the lower slopes of the Virunga volcanoes and trekking in the rugged terrain through unclear trails.
You will spend one magical hour with apes on meeting them. Watch the little juveniles and black backs play on tree branches, silverbacks watching over their families and female adults feeding their young ones. It’s such a life time experience. After the one hour, trek back to the park headquarters.
In the evening visit the Batwa community for a cultural treat to see how the Batwa pygmies used to hunt and gather fruits in the forest. Enjoying the traditional history and lifestyle of the local batwa community is a guarantee. Returning to Mutanda Lake Resort which is a mid-range lodge in Kisoro, for dinner and overnigh will be in the late evening to prepare for departure the next day.
Today, just have breakfast, check out of the lodge and travel back to Kampala. This journey will feed your eyes with more beautiful sights of the magnificent landscape of the country, and that will be the end of the trip.
